Medical school admissions advising
A distinguished application.
Admissions consulting for MD and DO applicants. We help you build the narrative first, then the essays that carry it, then the interviews where you convey it out loud.

How the work goes
Four stages, in the order they matter.
Applicants rarely lose a cycle on one bad essay. They lose it by starting late, by writing around the part of their record that actually matters, or by walking into an interview having memorized answers instead of understanding them. The sequence below is built to catch each of those in time.
-
The consultation
Thirty minutes over video. You describe where you are in the cycle. Neil tells you what he would do in the next month, whether or not you go on to work together.
-
The plan
A written plan for your cycle: the argument your application is making, which parts of your record carry it, the school list you are building against it, and the dates everything is due.
-
The writing
Personal statement and activities first, secondaries as they arrive. You write. Neil edits, questions the soft parts, and sends it back. He does not write essays for applicants, and you would not want a committee reading one he did.
-
The interviews
Mock interviews over video with written feedback after each one. Traditional, panel, and MMI, in the formats your invitations actually use. The work runs until the answers are yours and you are not reciting them.
What is covered
A full cycle, or the one stage you are stuck on.
Most clients take the whole cycle. Some arrive in October with interview invitations and a few weeks to prepare.
-
Narrative and strategy
What your application argues, why a committee should find it credible, and the school list that fits it. This is the first thing built and everything else refers back to it.
-
Primary application
Personal statement and the fifteen activities, including the three most meaningful. Line edits, structural rewrites, and the question of what to leave out. Starting in the spring is what puts you in position to submit the day the portal opens. Coming to it later is workable too, and the first job then is expediting the schedule.
-
Secondary essays
Prompts arrive in volume and on a clock. Pre-writing against last cycle's prompts, then fast turnarounds through July and August so nothing sits.
-
Interview and MMI preparation
Mock interviews with written feedback, question banks by type, and the specific mechanics of an MMI day. This is the deepest part of the practice.
The advisor
Neil
MD Candidate, Top 10 Medical School
Neil came to medicine second, after several years in the startup world. He applied as a nontraditional candidate, sat through the same secondaries and the same interview season his clients are in now, and matriculated at a top 10 medical school. He is now a medical student working to pursue a surgical career.
He advises a small number of applicants each cycle. That is deliberate, and it is what makes it possible to give every application real time. Every session is with him.
- Recent. He applied recently enough that none of this is secondhand, so the advice reflects how schools behave now and how a cycle actually unfolds week to week.
- Nontraditional. A career change into medicine is his own story, so an application that does not run in a straight line is the kind he reads best.
- Interviews. Interview preparation is where clients say the work showed most. Both testimonials below are largely about it.

“I worked with Neil during the medical school application process. He helped me sharpen my narrative and understand how to clearly communicate it in interviews without ever making it sound like someone else's. We then went deep on MMI prep. He walked me through how to approach each question type, pointing me to the resources that actually mattered. We also practiced 6-7 mock interviews with specific, tailored feedback. I went into my interviews feeling genuinely prepared and confident in myself, without feeling like I needed to rehearse or memorize anything. I ended up matriculating at my top choice, and am thankful to Neil in helping me get to where I wanted to go in my career.”
“I'm a career changer who made a big pivot into medicine, and Neil was a huge asset in my admissions success. His experience working with individuals coming from nontraditional backgrounds was evident from the very beginning; he knew how to shape my story, how to craft my experiences, and how to build a narrative that led to a very successful application cycle. It was really difficult for me to figure out how to piece together the unconventional aspects of my background into a coherent application, but Neil knew exactly what to do to make my application really stand out. When interviews did roll around, he knew how to prepare me and what exactly admissions committees were looking for (given that he'd gone through the process himself and knew how things worked firsthand) and his support was invaluable to converting both traditional and MMI interview formats. I couldn't recommend him enough, especially if entering medicine from a different career or with a unique backstory.”
